How to Use Categories

Created by Rebekah May, Modified on Fri, 02 Sep 2022 at 11:40 AM by Rebekah May

Categories are used to organize items in the punchout. For Level 1 enter the major categories items should be sorted into and then Levels 2-5 will be subcategories of those. For each following level you need to connect it to a level from above

When adding new categories into your punchout, please note that the categories will not appear in your punchout until at least one item is added into that category.

Example

For Level 1, the category could be ‘Office Supplies.’

Level 2 will have all subcategories of Office Supplies (so we will choose Office Supplies from the drop down menu) and a subcategory of Office Supplies could be ‘Tape, Adhesives & Fasteners.’

Level 3 will have all subcategories of Tape, Adhesives & Fasteners Supplies (so we will choose Office Supplies then Tape, Adhesives & Fasteners from the drop down menu) so we enter subcategories to match. For example: Clips/Clamps, Mounting Tape, Push Pins, Rubber Bands, Tapes.

If we want to subcategorize further Level 4 would be sections within one of the subcategories of Level 3, such as splitting Clips/Clamps into Paper Clips, Binder Clips, Staples, etc.

Level 5 can be used if categories need to be split into further subcategories, but in this example, we don’t need it.
